School Clippings (from Newspapers)

School Clippings (from Newspapers)
Mennonite Life owns a wonderful collection of more than 1,700 newspaper clippings related to the schools of Lancaster County. They are primarily photographs of pupils and teachers posing in front of one-room schoolhouses throughout the area from 1875 into the 1960s. Thankfully, many of the students and teachers are identified in the captions. Also included are a number of class reunion clippings from the 1960s through the 2000s as well as a handful of other school-related news articles that appeared in Lancaster’s Sunday NewsEphrata ReviewPenny Saver/Merchandiser, and Shopping News. Below you will find an alphabetical listing of available files. These scans were made from newspaper clippings and not from the original photographs. In some cases only photocopies of the clippings were available, and the resulting image quality is not ideal. The online files are low-resolution versions of the original scans. If you would like to purchase a copy of an original clipping, please send us an email at archives@mennonitelife.org or call (717) 393-9745, ext. 202.
