Celebrate 50 years of the Biblical Tabernacle Experience in Lancaster County! This event will kick off a summer of celebration at the Mennonite Life Visitors Center as we look back at the rich history of the Biblical Tabernacle Experience, and look forward to more years of journeying with God and God’s people.

The Community Celebration will feature $5 walk-in showings of the Biblical Tabernacle Experience, a kids’ scavenger hunt, a historical timeline telling the story of the tabernacle, and new merchandise. A sandwich and pretzel truck will be on site for the event.

The sandstone used for the Herr House was quarried on-site.

Christian Herr was a prominent leader in the 18th century Mennonite Community. Years after his death Lancaster Mennonites were still referred to as the Christian Herr Party.

Indigenous Peoples taught the Herr family and other Mennonites how to hunt game, clear heavily forested land, and how to identify native plants.
