Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society will host An Evening with David & Grace Shenk on Thursday, October 28, at 7 pm at Landisville Mennonite Church. It is co-sponsored by Eastern Mennonite Missions.

The presentation will feature excerpts, stories, and highlights from the new Shenk memoir, A Gentle Boldness: Sharing the Peace of Jesus in a Multi-Faith World. Phyllis Pellman Good will moderate the evening. Attendees will have an opportunity for Q&A. A live stream will be available online at facebook.com/MennoniteLife.

Not only is this a story of Shenk and his remarkable work in Christian missions, but it’s the stories that he has heard within societies, cultures, and religions when he asks the question: What difference does Jesus make?

A copy of the book costs $16.99 and will be available for purchase at the event. The author will sign books after the presentation.

Did You Know?

The sandstone used for the Herr House was quarried on-site.

Christian Herr was a prominent leader in the 18th century Mennonite Community. Years after his death Lancaster Mennonites were still referred to as the Christian Herr Party.

Indigenous Peoples taught the Herr family and other Mennonites how to hunt game, clear heavily forested land, and how to identify native plants.
