Following guidance issued by federal, state, and local authorities, this event has been cancelled.

Held on July 17, 9 am – 12 pm at the 1719 Herr House & Museum, 1849 Hans Herr Drive, Willow Street PA.

Pairs will learn about blacksmithing and create a project together with instruction by David Kauffman. Class is offered for a child over 10 and an accompanying adult.

The cost of the class is $50 per person.

The sandstone used for the Herr House was quarried on-site.

Christian Herr was a prominent leader in the 18th century Mennonite Community. Years after his death Lancaster Mennonites were still referred to as the Christian Herr Party.

Indigenous Peoples taught the Herr family and other Mennonites how to hunt game, clear heavily forested land, and how to identify native plants.
