Dirk Eitzen, PhD, is Professor of Film and Media at Franklin & Marshall College and author of Fooling with the Amish: Amish Mafia, Entertaining Fakery, and the Evolution of Reality TV.
Eitzen considers the case of Amish Mafia, a Discovery Channel reality show released in 2012, to examine why the public is so taken with reality shows, the potential dangers of this genre and how the ex-Amish participants became involved in the show.
