Join Mennonite Life Visitors Center Associate and former pastor Verle Brubaker at a genealogy and family systems workshop.
This workshop will provide a framework for pursuing meaningful genealogical research by exploring the following questions:
What is the motivation of genealogists?
Why do we look back to the past?
What generational patterns are you repeating?
Verle will introduce the Eight Concepts of Bowen family systems theory before facilitating hands-on experience in creating a family diagram. This visual tool will enable participants to trace relationships and identify significant patterns within their own families. The event will also provide researchers and pastors or leaders with tools to care for their communities through the framework of family systems.
Participants do not need any prior experience with family systems, but should come prepared with basic knowledge about their immediate family tree (i.e. parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.). The workshop will facilitate community connections and connect participants with experienced researchers.
