Plain Living Series 1

Mennonite Life and Garden Spot Village come together for a series on the role of the Amish and Mennonites in the community, as well as stories of their experiences. Held in the chapel at Garden Spot Village (433 S Kinzer Avenue in New Holland), the Plain Living Series events are complimentary and do not require registration.

 

Gifts for Relief–from White Horse to the World

Join Ken Sensenig and an Amish representation for a history of Gifts for Relief, an Amish-operated non-profit that has grown rapidly throughout the last decade. Gifts for Relief provides supplies for international aid organizations, selling relief supplies (such as materials for school kits and hygiene kits) wholesale to individuals who can share them with sending organizations.

Christian Herr was a prominent leader in the 18th century Mennonite Community. Years after his death Lancaster Mennonites were still referred to as the Christian Herr Party.

Indigenous Peoples taught the Herr family and other Mennonites how to hunt game, clear heavily forested land, and how to identify native plants.
