Richard A. Eby Genealogical Papers

The book Hannes Eby Death & Burial Record, published by Lancaster Mennonite Historical Society, contains a translation of nearly nine hundred entries in a German ledger kept by John (“Hannes”) Eby (1767-1845), who lived along Hammer Creek northeast of Lititz, Pennsylvania. From 1806 until his death in 1845, Eby recorded burials of relatives, friends, and acquaintances in “old” Warwick Township, Lancaster County, in neighboring counties, and even in Canada. The book combines more than two hundred black-and-white and color photographs with twenty-seven sidebars and a detailed index to deliver insight on the early nineteenth century. Included are extensive annotations about the persons named in the record book, which will be beneficial to those with ancestry in northern Lancaster County. Click here to purchase a copy of the book!
