Join Mennonite Life and author Lucinda J. Kinsinger in the Mennonite Life Community Room for a discussion of Anything but Simple: My Life as a Mennonite on Thursday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m.

Anything but Simple is the memoir of a young woman’s rich church tradition, lively family life, and longings for a meaningful future within her Mennonite faith.

As a schoolteacher in a small Mennonite school in rural Wisconsin, Lucinda wears long dresses and a prayer covering, and also uses Facebook and a cell phone. Why would a young woman with access to modern technology remain within a sheltered community like the Plain Mennonites? How can someone with an eye for beauty and a sometimes-sardonic wit stay within a tradition that values discipline and submission and uniformity?

Lucinda J. Kinsinger (née Miller) is an author, a columnist for Anabaptist World, and a blogger at LucindaJKinsinger.com. She is known for her honesty and humor, and her ability to connect with others through telling stories. “[Lucinda] is a Mennonite from rural Wisconsin, but the essence of her well-told story connects with all of ours,” writes author Dorcas Smucker.

Anything but Simple is available for purchase here.
