Join Mennonite Life at Garden Spot Village Chapel (433 S Kinzer Avenue, New Holland) for an evening of conversation with local author Shirley Showalter.

Showalter, an author, speaker, and grandmother, will discuss her book, The Mindful Grandparent: The Art of Loving our Children’s Children. Showalter will emphasize embracing elderhood and leaving a spiritual legacy through wisdom and storytelling with children and grandchildren.

Krista Tippett, founder of The On Being Project, describes The Mindful Grandparent as “[A] celebration of the flow and fullness of life. A call to the honor and pleasures of eldering.” Author Parker J. Palmer praises the warmth and practicality of how Showalter writes the “three-generation dance” between grandparents, their children, and their grandchildren.

Showalter also blogs at ShirleyShowalter.com, where she reflects on family, Mennonite heritage and history, and her travels.

This author talk is complimentary and does not require registration. People from all life stages are welcome.
